  What is GAF Converter?

GAF Converter is a tool for conversion animations from the SWF files into the GAF format. It is available as standalone application GAF Converter, Unity GAF Converter and GAF Publisher for Flash Pro.

GAF Converter can convert about 99% of what can be done in Flash Pro. The full list of the features you can read in the article Supported features of the Flash Pro.

Standalone GAF Converter

standalone gaf converter

Standalone GAF Converter is a standalone application that is available for Win and Mac platforms. It is built using Adobe AIR and requires AIR runtime. If you don’t have the AIR runtime, an installer will download and install it automatically during installation of the GAF Converter.

Right after the installation Standalone GAF Converter works in the Preview Mode. In order to start working in Regular (Logged-in) Mode you have to log in using your GAF Media account. More information you can read in article Registration and Login.

The conversion process takes place entirely on a user computer. But internet connection is required for the authentication and license validation. Standalone GAF Converter is the fastest and easiest way to start conversion. It is recommended for Cocos and Starling developers. How to quickly get started with Standalone GAF Converter please read in the article Standalone GAF Converter quick start guide.

Unity GAF Converter

unity gaf converter

Unity GAF Converter is a part of Unity plugin. Unity plugin comprises Unity GAF playback library and Unity GAF Converter. Unity plugins are available as GAF: Flash to Unity and GAF Pro: Flash to Unity plugins . The GAF Converter used in both versions of the plugin is the same. The only difference between Free and Pro Unity plugins is an extended Unity interface for GAF.

GAF Pro: Flash to Unity plug-in features:

Right after installation Unity GAF Converter works in Preview Mode. In order to start working in Regular (Logged-in) Mode, you have to log in using your GAF Media account. More information you can read in article Registration and Login. Please note: articles Preview Mode and Registration and Login are written for the Standalone GAF Converter, but the information is valid for the Unity plugin too.

Unlike Standalone GAF Converter the conversion process takes place entirely on the gafmedia servers. Unity GAF Converter uploads SWF files to the gafmedia servers and waits while the converter on the server converts SWF files. After the conversion is completed the Unity GAF Converter downloads the conversion result on the user computer. It was done because of the technical reason: the core of the GAF Converter requires AIR runtime to convert an animations from SWF files. And there is no way to integrate AIR application inside Unity plugin.
